Dramafest Day Four

Dramafest Day Four

Liam Keenan

Today I had the great pleasure of enjoying I Never Saw Another Butterfly directed by Claire Shearer, 13 Ways to Screw Up Your College Interview directed by Celeste Nygren, and A World Without Memory directed by Connor Daviss.

Butterfly followed a young jewish girl named Raja, and her experiences in the Terezin concentration camp during WWII. Raja’s story is one of struggle and hardship, which Brenna Power accurately portrayed through her characterization of Raja.

13 Ways was a pleasant interlude between the two dramas, providing many laughs by means of ridiculous college interviews littered with eccentric characters.
The highlight of the day for me was A World Without Memory. Connor Daviss brought the story of Abe Rothstein, and aging man with Alzheimer’s, to life. The two standout actors from Memory were Adam Westerman and Anna Dolde, Adam portraying Abe, and Anna portraying Abe’s daughter, Robin. Daviss’ production was one of subtlety and beauty, emphasizing the unwinnable struggle that Abe faces, and revealing truth as to how we as people deal with their pasts and memories. Overall, a very successful day for the Roosevelt Drama department, and for Dramafest.
