Free SAT

by Dane Rogerson

On Wednesday, February 24, Seattle Public Schools offered the Scholastic Aptitude Test, or the SAT during the school day. This test has sections covering critical reading, mathematics, and writing. All high school juniors were automatically registered for the exam and could choose not to take it simply by not filling out their entrance ticket and reporting to their first period of the day instead of the testing room. Usually costing over fifty dollars, this is a great opportunity offered by Roosevelt for juniors with college aspirations to take the next step in the application process. Besides saving money, there are countless other reasons for juniors tp consider testing. For one, many school districts around the nation are not as privileged as Seattle schools and students have to go out of their way to schedule an aptitude test. Additionally, the test is only offered seven times a year outside of school, something that can cause problems for students with busy schedules. The test takes just over 3 hours and 45 minutes—what better way to spend a Wednesday morning?
