Sophie Migeon, Senior

Sophie Migeon shaped and painted five ceramic bowls for her senior project. At the beginning, the process was anything but perfect. Sophie made about 40 bowls that “never turned into anything,” before she could select five of them that were good enough to display. She spent more than 20 hours total, trying to create her bowls on the pottery wheel in her bedroom. Sophie did research, but she also got help from her father, who took pottery classes in college. “Centering the bowls on the pottery wheel,” was the most difficult part of her senior project, but despite the inconsistent thickness of her first few bowls, she was able to improve the quality over time, and in the end she was satisfied with the products of her senior project.
