Fall Sports Results Roundup

Roosevelt fall sport teams had a successful start to the year. Multiple teams progressed to postseason competitions such as Metros, Districts, and State Championships.

Girls Swim and Dive

In the regular season of Girls Swim and Dive, they won four out of their seven meets, and a majority of the team made it to Metros. At the Metros Championship, Catherine Andrews, Roosevelt junior, got second in the 50-yard freestyle, first in the 100-yard backstroke, and the team placed third in the 400-freestyle relay, achieving a state qualifying time. At Districts, the team placed fifth. Andrews got second in the 100-backstroke at State Championships, and the team got seventh at State Championships. 

Varsity and Junior Varsity Football

The Varsity Football team lost all of the 10 games they played. They are ranked 15th in the league. The Junior Varsity football team won three out of their four games. The Freshman football team won one out of their nine games.

Girls Varsity Soccer

In the regular season, the Girls Varsity soccer team won 12 games, tied two games, and lost five games. The team made it to the Metros, where they beat Seattle Prep and Garfield, and lost to Lakeside. They proceeded to the State Tournament, and made it to the championship game, where they placed second for the first time in program history.

Golf

The Girls Golf team won all of their nine matches, and they progressed to Metros, where they won first place. They will play in Districts in the spring. 

The Boys Golf team won nine out of their 11 games, and placed fourth at Metros. Five golfers will compete in the State tournament this spring. 

Cross Country

The Boys Cross Country team placed seventh at Metros and 10th at Districts. 

The Girls Cross Country team placed third at Metros, third at Districts, and ninth at State Championships. The entire co-ed XC team placed third in Metro League. Dylan Senescall, Girls Cross Country captain and Roosevelt senior, stated that other schools’ cross country teams see the sport as very individual, while “with the cross country team at Roosevelt, I think there’s a really strong community.”

Girls Slow Pitch Softball

In the regular season, Girls Slow Pitch Softball won nine out of their 13 games and is ranked third in Metro League. They played six non-league games, where they lost four and won one. They progressed to the playoffs where they won one game, and lost the other two they played. 

Cheerleading

The Roosevelt Cheerleading team competed for the first time in October, placed first at Metros, and will compete at the State Championships in February.

Girls Volleyball

The Varsity Girls Volleyball team won one game against West Seattle High School, out of the 14 games they played, and are ranked 15th in Metro League. The Junior Varsity Volleyball Team won nine out of the 16 games played.
