Tekashi 6ix9ine is in Prison

Fellow listeners of rap and hip-hop may understand what the title implies, but if not, I must clarify, this is the 6ix9ine article. Daniel Hernandez, aka Tekashi 6ix9ine, is a rapper and alleged gang member who was arrested on November 18th. His arrest comes after a federal indictment, and he is being held on several counts of racketeering, one count of possession of a gun while committing a crime, and one count of firing a weapon while committing a crime. In short, this means Tekashi is caught up for real this time.

This all came just days before the scheduled release of his debut album, “DUMMY BOY” which was leaked soon after Tekashi’s team said it would be postponed; yes indeed, it would seem Mr. Hernandez really is a “Dummy Boy”. Hernandez’s music is highly controversial, not because it features sexual themes and reference to gang culture and drug use, but because it is often just him yelling over beats. His odd music style makes it hard to find a true fan, that being said, it is not hard to find people that want to speak on 6ix9ine. “I would rather use school toilet paper for the rest of my life than listen to another 6ix9ine song” claims sophomore Jackson Stanford. Sapphire Le Regoutel echoes his sentiment “I’m glad he’s locked up so I don’t have to listen to any more of his trash music”. All of this negativity begs the question “Why do people hate Tekashi 6ix9ine?” I took to the halls to find an answer to this question, and it came to me quite quickly. “I hate him cuz his music sucks and he looks stupid,” says freshman Alex Gardner, stupid? More like Stoopid.

Tekashi has been closely followed by allegations of illegal activities for most of his musical career, and it would appear as though those have finally caught up to him. The charges against him are from the Federal government, so they are much higher level than previous allegations. If convicted he faces at least 32 years in prison, with a maximum of life in prison. Mr. Hernandez has pleaded not guilty, and with a court date set for September 2019, fans and haters alike will be watching closely.
